Dem gains!

Hello Lovelies,

It seems that lately the only clothes I wear are work clothes or gym clothes. I have been doing the Michelle Bridges 12 Week Body Transformation which means I am at the gym 6 days a week. In light of this I thought I would do a little post about active wear.

Now, before getting in to this post I will warn you that I refuse to spend $70 on a pair of gym pants so the clothes I am showing you are affordable and most are not brand names at all.

The thing with active wear is that it is very hard to find flattering styles for curvy or bigger girls. When I started going to the gym 22 months ago I was extremely self conscious about how I looked in gym clothes and I had a tendency to stick to baggy tops that covered my derriere and stomach. I am much more comfortable in gym clothes now and I admit that I like showing off my hard work in the active wear I now wear to the gym. Some people may think that I look terrible in active wear and I just don't care. I am comfortable and happy with how I look!

Here we go...

This was my outfit last Saturday for a Super Saturday Session at the gym, complete with running, a weights circuit and a thirty minute Body Attack class. I am wearing a Michelle Bridges top and pants.  I love the Michelle Bridges range of active wear because its flattering and affordable and they go up to quite large sizes. The pants are around $35 and the tops are around $30. I refuse to spend a fortune on clothes I am going to sweat my ass off in!!

Here we have an outfit purchased at Kmart. Kmart branded pants and an Everlast top. I didn't much like this top a few weeks ago, it was a bit snug and I didn't feel comfortable in it. However, I tried it on again on Monday and here you see the result. Comfortable enough to strut around the gym if this baby!

Another Kmart special and yes, I am standing on a chair in a motel room. I travel for work and this was the venue for my Tuesday afternoon workout. I am not feeling so awesome in this outfit, the reason being it is getting a bit big so is looking a bit baggy.

Another awesome Kmart outfit, and one of my favourites.

So, that is a little look in to my gym wardrobe. A curvy girl can look good in active wear without having to spend a fortune to do so. I think I look banging, even if I do say so myself :P

My headbands are Nike branded headbands. I cannot workout without a headband!

The Michelle Bridges range is available at Big W so if you liked my look get in to their store and check it out.

Oh, I nearly forgot about Sports Bra's. I loathe most sports bra's. They just do not keep the girls in tight enough. There is one sports bra I do love and it is from Cotton On. The problem is they only go up to a size 14DD. I squeeze my E cup girls in to it though and I feel comfortable and supported while I am working out.

Concerts and long weekends!

Life has been super busy this week, but enjoyable.

I took three days off work this week to travel to Sydney and see Maroon 5 in concert. I must say that I have never really been impressed with Adam Levine, though I do enjoy his music. After seeing the concert I can say that Adam Levine has impressed me. He has such stage presence and charisma. Also, he is attractive.

So I obviously needed a fantastic outfit to wear to the concert. I was stuck between a tulle skirt, wet look jeans or a lovely blue dress. I went with the dress, teamed with a killer necklace, a pleather bolero and some cute ankle strap wedges.

The dress is the Strappy Cross Back Tunic from City Chic (http://www.citychic.com.au/STRAPPY-CROSS-BACK-TUNIC.aspx?p6514789&cr=w1pq__072337) and it also comes in red and purple. Its very comfortable and a good addition to a spring/summer wardrobe!.

I bought these cute little shoes from FSW for $15.

The pleather bolero is also from City Chic, I am in love with it (http://www.citychic.com.au/LACE-INSERT-BOLERO.aspx?p6494300)

The necklace is from Lovisa and I bought it specifically to wear with this dress.

Of course a trip to Sydney is not complete without a little shopping spree. I bought a dress  and some cute Eiffel Tower earrings from Dotti, a dress and pair of jade green ballet flats from Forever 21 and yellow dress and blue clutch from Forever New.

I wore the yellow dress today. I had a Christening to attend as well as a second birthday for gorgeous twins and a Sunday session at the pub with some lovely ladies.

The dress is called the Ebony Embellished Sundress. The beading on this dress is divine, very feminine. I love a yellow sundress, actually I am very partial to yellow for Spring and Summer. Not fluorescent yellow though.

The shoes I am wearing are from Betts, bought last summer.

Sunshine daisies, butter mellow, Jaiimay is looking gorgeous in Yellow!

So that is my week Lovelies. I hope everyone has been enjoying their long weekend :)

Fashionista, Who Me?

Today, I bring you a week in the life of Jaiimay. It is pretty obvious that I love clothes and selfies, so not last week, but the week before I decided to document each days outfit from Monday to Sunday, as selfies of course (I still do not have a person to take photos for me yet...).

I have come to the conclusion that I am a being a Fashionista, so here I present my followings of fashion (and I have dreams of designing haute couture... if only I had the drawing and sewing talent!)

Monday

Monday was all about Polka Dots and a hint of red. Most of you know that I am not the type of lawyer to wear matching suits in dark colours to work. I love colour and I love mixing it up and this outfit brings a little bit of fun to the dreaded Monday!

Tuesday

I was a little more lawyerly on Tuesday. A black lace collar dress, teal cardigan and a strand of my favourite pearls.

Wednesday

I was back in red, white and black on Wednesday, but a different style of dress completely. A black pencil skirt, delicate lace top and a red cardigan to tie it all off. I love these colours together. I also love the black flats I am wearing. Ankle strap flats add a little extra flair to an outfit.

Thursday

I was feeling a little Parisian on this Thursday. An off the shoulder black and white striped top with a plain black skirt. This top is great for nights out on the town as well. I like teaming it with a high waisted pleather skirt.

Friday

Fun day Friday! Bursts of colour and a white singlet to break it up. I was travelling for work on Friday so decided to be a little casual. I'm loving floral prints for Spring.

Saturday

It was much cooler in Tamworth, my home town, on Saturday so I opted for a pair of TDF jeans, a new cami and a navy blue cardigan. I really like the length of the cami I am wearing below. I am totally self conscious about my tummy and it really stands out in jeans, so I tend to wear longer line tops. Shorter tops don't really flatter my figure.

 Sunday

Oh Sunday, and one of my favourite dresses. I picked up this peasant style dress while I was in Hawaii from Forever 21 (I shopped up a storm in Forever 21). Also, I'm not wearing any makeup in this pic. It was a no makeup Sunday and a morning out with the mother for pedicures and some shopping. I didn't buy any clothes. Shocking, I know.

A lovely floaty dress to end the week.

So that is a week in the life of Jaiimay!

Happy Weekend Lovelies!

Spring Fling

Is anyone else overjoyed that Spring is upon us? I know I certainly am. I love Spring for the flowers, the smell in the air, the sunshine and warmer days and of course, the fashion!

I must apologise for the three week break between posts. I have been a busy lady, with two girls weekends away and lots of work to do. Fashion and blogging has not been far from my mind though.

I went on a bit of a crazy shopping spree this week. Thanks to City Chic and their members sale offer, I got 30% off on full price and sale items. I bought ten things. One of the items I purchased was a lovely skirt, a signature spring piece. I am quite in love with it. I wore it to work yesterday,  as a kind of casual Friday I don't want to dress like a generic lawyer outfit. My boss loved it, she said I was bringing 50's retro back. I do love my boss and the lovely comments she makes about my clothes and accessories :)

The skirt is a fantastic mix of floral, pastel, pops of colour and geometric shapes. here it is...

Ensemble 1

This was my Friday work outfit and I really felt like I was stepping in to Spring. I felt pretty and feminine and I love how City Chic clothes can make me feel that way. Yes, the skirt is City Chic. I am wearing an off white three quarter puff sleeve shirt underneath the pink cardi. I love this card, it is from SES and what I like about SES cardi's is that they are inexpensive and come in a range of colours. I have three cardi's the same as the pink one and every time I go to Sydney for work I buy another colour.

I had so many ideas throughout the day on how this skirt could be worn... So of course I decided to host my own fashion show in the comfort of my own home on a Friday afternoon...

Ensemble 2

Here I have chosen a collared shirt with lace on the shoulders. The spearmint colour of the shirt compliments the skirt nicely and I think it accentuates the other colours. This can also be a casual Friday work outfit, afternoon tea ensemble, a day out at the shops. The bag I am holding is from Forever New, also another sale purchase from a few weeks ago.

Ensemble 3

I have dressed it up a bit here by adding a delicate lace top (I apologise for the tag peeping over my shoulder), some mint heels and matching clutch. The top was another of my 30% off purchases this week. Another item I am happy with.

Ensemble 4
I think the addition of the blazer takes this outfit from day to night, or again an office outfit. I would be completely comfortable wearing this ensemble to the office and even to Court. I really do not agree that lawyers must be in the uniform of a black suit. Where is the fun in that!

And now we have the party outfit, the garden party, a wedding outfit, the outfit Du Jour...

Ensemble 5 - front view

Ensemble 5 - side view

The strapless top I am wearing here is the Deep V Corset top, also a City Chic item and also one of my 30% off purchases. It is fantastic! I am seriously considering this ensemble as the outfit I will wear to a wedding in February next year.

I really think that spearmint, mint, pastel green is the colour of spring. It is fresh and inviting.

So that concludes my fashion show for now. I have a lot of other goodies to show off in the next few weeks ;).

Thanks for reading lovelies!

Jaiimay

Suiting Up!!!!!

So, I have already discussed the wet look skinny jean sensation that is taking over the world, but there is another trend which has been very prominent of late, the Play Suit/Jump Suit phenomena.

I must say that most of the time when I am out shopping I see these lovely printed garments which I gravitate towards... only to discover that it is a Play Suit or a Jump Suit and I instantly put the garment back on the rack. I had a fear of them, a fear that they will make my belly stand out and I will be come a fashion faux pas.

Until one day... I was shopping in my favourite store, browsing the racks, checking out the new stock, when I came across a Play Suit. I was instantly attracted to the pattern and colour, I tried it on and it looked okay but I fervently wished that it was a dress and I left the store with empty hands, saddened that the one thing I liked that day was a Play Suit.

That Play Suit plagued my thoughts for days and in the end I just decided I would buy it, maybe I would wear it to the Ladies Day at the Rugby... which I did.

Here I am taking the standard selfie before heading off to the Rugby. At this point I was pretty happy with the Play Suit and I wore it again a week later when I was out to dinner with friends in Sydney. In the photo above I an wearing it with black opaque tights and a long line card.

Below, I have dressed it up, wearing sheer stockings to keep my legs warm, a black belt and some patent black heels.

I became a little addicted to the Play Suit and I bought the same style in plain black. I wore the plain black one to an engagement party on the weekend and I felt fabulous. The material is a bit slinky and seems to hug my curves in all the right places. No fashion faux pas' here! Teamed with some blue pumps (which I got for the bargain price of $10, reduced from $200) and a gorgeous clutch this outfit is amazing.

Also, I am not the only sexy curvy girl who can rock a Play Suit. My lovely friend Kathryn looks fabulous in the Play Suit as well. Here she is looking gorgeous...

I have one issue with the Play Suit... a girl has to take the whole thing off when she has to use the ladies room. It is a little inconvenient. However, the positives far outweigh the one negative issue I have with this fantastic item of clothing. I think I am now addicted to Play Suiting Up!!!!

So, I will sign off with this fashion advice... TRY SOMETHING THAT TAKES YOU OUT OF YOUR COMFORT ZONE! You may surprise yourself with the results!

Jaiimay :)

Sunday Stylings To Die For!

Ah Sunday, glorious Sunday... and the weather is just glorious today.

I decided to get out of the house and take a walk in the sunshine to check out the local Farmers Market. Of course I needed a great Sunday style to wear... always thinking about fashion, style and looking good. Considering there is still a chill in the air I thought jeans to be appropriate

Jeans, we either love them or hate them!

Now, until recently I never wore jeans, they made me look unattractive and they just never fit right. It was not until I lost 15kg that I decided I would give jeans another try. The problem with me and jeans is that my ass is non existent and whenever I wear jeans I tend to spend the whole time pulling the damn things up. Also, most jeans are baggy on my legs which makes me look like a very big and wide tree. Not attractive!!!!!

However, after a long and disheartening search I have found the jeans to die for...

The jeans are the TDF (To Die For jeans) from City Chic. What is great about these jeans is that they are made for specific body shapes. Apple, Hourglass and Pear. Being a curvy apple girl I have found that these jeans are amazing. I buy the Apple Skinny TDF Jeans and I have them in dark blue denim and black denim.

I chose the black ones today...

These babies are very much To Die For! They show off my great legs (which I am very proud of - the hard work of squats and cycling) and they fit like a glove. Also, they are comfortable and they don't fall down (they sit high on the waist and the waist is adjustable).

Here I am wearing the jeans with a long line baby pink top, a scarf (that I knitted myself with some lovely yarn from Lincraft) and the City Chic, City Wedge Boots in Grey Suede.

I also added a long line card for some extra warmth...

This cardi is also a City Chic item. I think that a long line card is a staple for any winter wardrobe. I wear this one to work, out and about to the movies or the local pub for a drink, and as you can see casually on the weekend. One of the best items in my winter wardrobe.

A lovely morning spent wandering around the Farmers Market in my TDF Jeans!

So, if there are any ladies out there loathing jeans and looking for the perfect pair you must, I say must, go in to City Chic and try on a pair of the TDF Jeans. Here is the link: http://www.citychic.com.au/Body-Shape-Denim-T-D-F.aspx?pl&s=228

Have a lovely Sunday :)

Hippopotamus, I am not!

You know what is popular in the fashion world lately? Wet Look Jeans. I have previously been apprehensive about this trend. My apprehension stemming from images of me in Wet Look Jeans looking like a hippopotamus, cute, but round and bulbous.

However, I have not been able to stop thinking about Wet Look Jeans and when I saw a pair online (on a Facebook buy, swap, sell page) for a bargain price the other day I bought them. I decided that if I did in fact look like a hippopotamus, that was okay, because I purchased them for a bargain price. I was also a little worried that they wouldn't fit, did I pick the wrong size? Arghhhhh, the stresses of buying clothes one has not tried on!

I also decided that I needed a new top to wear with said Wet Look Jeans. So I opened up a new tab, typed in www.citychic.com.au and found a lovely top, which also happened to be on sale. I also bought some other things, but I am addicted to buying clothes (ssshhhhhh). Voila, a new outfit on its way to me!

The Wet Look Jeans and the new top arrived on the same day. I must say, I was a little excited to try them on, which I did on Saturday morning. When I first tried the ensemble on I was amazed. The Wet Look Jeans were amazing, so comfortable and flattering. I was not really impressed with the top at first and I thought 'Oh, I might return that'.

I had plans to go to the movies on Saturday night, and the idea of the fashion blog had been on my mind for a few days. I decided to hell with it, I am wearing the Wet Look Jeans and the new top and I am going to be fabulous and this is what my first blog post will be about!

Needless to say, I really do think I look fabulous (yes, I am bias). Let me show you....

So, here we have the Wet Look Jeans and the new top. Oh and a nice pair of Betts patent pumps. Such a good look for casual drinks and dinner with friends and something that can be worn out if the night progresses to more drinks, maybe some dancing.

Here, as you can see, I have added a blazer... maybe a casual friday look for work.

Here, we have the side view (not my best angle) and this is where I was having second thoughts about the hippopotamus look.

Just to tone it down a little I swapped the blazer and heels for a longline card and a pair of flats.

I can report that the outfit was a success. The male friend who I went to the movies with said, and I quote, 'You're smoking hot'

All in all, I think I can safely say that 'Hippopotamus, I am not'.

Jaiimay :)
